SAWADEEKHAA....I'm BACK!!!

the trios

Bangkok...... The land flowing with milk and honey...haa..okie not realli..minus off the pungent smell of the drains, blazing sun and uncountable steps everywhere. Its pretty similar to Homeland though.

Okie due to limited space in my flicker acct, i shall divide this tour into 2 parts..let me start from day one when we flew off. Okie blame it on our stingy nature..save save save...so ended up on a budget airline..Shall not mention names here but..we are sooooooooooooo bored during the flight. 0 entertainment, noisy engine sound, claustrophobic environment..that's not all, we wanted to try the airline food so we enquire about the size of the choco cookie.. The air stewardess, politely with great enthusiasm told us, with her hands as a gauge, the size of it..mind you the size she showed was huge..comparable to the one available at Subway.
So we agreed to try one...ohh man when it came we were totolly dumbfounded can.Heh! it was about the size of the normal Chips Ahoy cookie yah. But!..okie it was realli good. (Slurp)

LEAVING AIRPORT

Leaving the airport

on the plane

On the Airplane

By the time we arrived in Bangkok, it was already 8 plus at night. Our first itinerary was to quickly check into our rooms and settle our growling stomach.
Knowing that the food there in Bangkok was realli cheap, we decided to try different restarants everyday. First night ==> Zen, a japanese restaurants that has very unique furnitures. Food= Okie the beef teppanyaki was fabulous..Oishi nei!! Err okie in Thai...Ah Roi!!!

As the shopping malls were all closed at 10pm..we just headed str back to our hotel after dinner.

Next morning on the 19th June..we woke up at about 730 in the morning, enjoyed our complimentary breakfast and head str on to the famous Weekend Market ==> ChaTuChak. Its about the size of 7 Football Fields yah and we were proud to say we didnt even complete one football field. It was realli realli huge, a big maze i would say. You seldom can find your way back to the same place twice. Rows and rows of stalls displaced before you. Most of them selling similar stuff just that the prices differs. Our bargaining skills were first put to use here. It gets more and more into you each time. Me and xiaowei ended up tnei-ing our way through. So entertaining..here's how most conversation would go:

Us: How much??
Owner: 380 baht
Us: Huh 190 la..
Owner: (with a frowning face) Cannot..... Wholesale ...cannot cheaper
Us: Huh..aiyah 250 la
Owner: cannot cannot...very cheap already whole sale..
Us: We buy 2 le ...2 for 300?
Owner: err ok ok 350 for 2..cannot cheaper already
Us: 320 la..
Owner: (feeling pretty helpless and distress now) ok ok 320 for 2..
Us: (in our hearts) Yay..battle won..

Though the cut wasnt alot but we do feel much better hah..dumb right.

Traffic in Bangkok

The traffic outside Chatuchak

Colorful?

Fake fruits display

SM sia

Hmmm a bit SM sia, wonder who buys them

Kid selling Ice Cream

You cant really take an upfront picture of the people there so i gotta use my part time model Ms Lim to pose beside him. That kid was selling some kinda of ice-cream..pretty cool.

Thailand Telephone booth

Mr NG was trying out the public phone outside Chatuchak..err..without inserting any coins....

Next we headed back to our hotel to unload all our barang barangs before we took a cab down to downtown Chinatown~~*clang clang clang* where cheap sharks fin and bird's nest are found everywhere.

Chinatown

An overall view of the street

Dirt cheap sharks fin n crabs

Do a quick calculation..it's about $12.50 per bowl??!!!!

The sad thing was that we didnt actually try out the fins and nests..we settled for crabs instead..at a famous restaurant called : Nam Sing , where most of the staff there speaks Mandarin!! so cool..we had black pepper squid, chilli crab and sambal kangkong for dinner. OOolala... Stay tune to this page..the pic will be up pretty soon.

We didnt realli loiter around that area, after dinner we took a cab down to a place which is described as a "Singapore Holland Village" where all the night life can be found. ===> Khao San

Once again, rows and rows of shops packed the 2 aisles and not forgetting all those cafes and pubs. We weren't really in the mood to drink therefore we went for coffee instead..in their elegantly decorated StarBucks Cafe..Okie think i'm sounding more and more like an aunty here but... the Frapperchino is like only 3 dollars plus yah and they do give samples of cookies to go with the drink. Lovely

And the last itinerary of the day was to walk up the Rama VIII Bridge. A spectacular architecture to be viewed at night. SImply breath taking

Rama 8 bridge

Alrite all these are till Day 2 of our Bangkok Tour 2005..stay tune for more.
